Facilities
Mick Appleby purchased and relocated to Langham Racing Stables from a rented yard near Newark in September 2016.
Previously a Polo Yard the stables are set in 80 acres of prime Rutland countryside – with 20 excellent day paddocks and 40 acres of summer turn out fields which include purpose built field shelters. There are a number of schooling fences hurdles and cross country jumps around the fields and we are currently working on opening up an historic bridleway to allow further access for hacks across road free countryside.
Two new barns, all weather gallop, a 5 furlong oval gallop and a 7 furlong straight grass gallop, 2 Monarch Horse Walkers, a Solarium and a Theraplate were all installed to allow different training regimes.
Our state of the art all weather one mile, undulating gallop guarantees fitness and can be used throughout the year whatever the weather.
With 105 Licensed Boxes we have an ever changing list of horses in training – renowned for his All Weather success - Champion Trainer for 6 years - Mick has had much recent success on the turf and is also keen to take horses abroad to chase better prize money – Dubai, Sweden, South Korea, France and Ireland.
At Mick Appleby Racing the owners are as important (almost!) as the horses – communication channels are ever improving with weekly videos sent of the horses working, and discussion about suitable races – distance and surface.
With a long standing core team of ground workers and work riders – together with Apprentice and Professional Jockeys you can be assured your horse will be well cared for and you will have some fun.
